After much thought and discussion I have decided to return to competition. I will be working with Justin Harris @troponin_nutrition and my goal will be to obtain my IFBB pro card. This was the goal I was pursuing when I was outted in 2015 and it subsequently took a back seat to everything else that was going on in my life. I am a competitor by nature and without a specific goal to focus on my training since that time has lacked direction and intensity. Recommitting to this goal excites me and I’m looking forward to grinding away in the gym again like I was always known for. Above all else the main goal will be to bring my all time best to the stage, to be bigger and leaner than I have ever been. Since I’m certain many of you you are wondering and will be asking I’ll just address it now. I will be competing in the men’s division (notice I did not say “as a male”) and no this does not change the fact that I’m trans/genderfluid/nonbinary. This also says nothing about my beliefs concerning trans athletes and fair competition only what I feel is right for me. So along with everything else that I feel is important to talk about you can expect to see more posts regarding training, nutrition, and the like. #transgender #genderfluid #nonbinary #gendernonconforming #genderqueer

Have you ever noticed how differently we treat women’s bodies vs men’s bodies? The two photos I posted reveal similar amounts of my body but they’re sure to evoke very different reactions. It is quite obvious that there is far greater pressure on women to achieve a certain look to be desirable and the pressure whether it be from boyfriends/husbands/partners, family members, friends, or society at large often leads many young girls to develop severe body image issues while still in their early teens. These issues often lead to bulimia, anorexia, and other serious eating disorders as well as poor self esteem and intimacy issues. Women are also faced with many mixed messages. Be sure to look attractive and desirable but not “slutty” or “easy” and worse yet this pressure and judgement often comes from fellow women. Men with large numbers of sexual partners are revered by their peers while women are made to feel worthless. Women’s bodies come in all shapes and sizes. More emphasis needs to be placed on what those bodies can do and less on how well they meet an unrealistic societal standard. There needs to be less hate and more support for all types of bodies and whether or not women choose to show lots of their body or none at all. Above all we need to be kind and supportive of each other and think now of the example we’re setting for the next generation of young women. Are we going to teach them to embrace their uniqueness and be confident in who they are or continue the cycle of perpetuating shame and self hatred??? #intersectionalfeminism #feminist #feminism #girlswholift #girlswithmuscle #transgender #genderfluid #nonbinary #gendernonconforming #girlslikeus #transisbeautiful

Masculinity vs femininity. I believe that society puts far too much emphasis on making masculinity and femininity opposites as if they’re opposing forces and you can only be one or the other. And that these characteristics are ingrained at birth and defined solely by gender. For all of the ways masculinity and feminity are traditionally defined I can think of lots of men and women that display plenty of both characteristics. And furthermore the ideas that only men are strong, brave, and protectors is just as absurd as the idea that only women can be sensitive, emotional, and loving. From a young age we are all conditioned To believe that boys act one way and girls act another and that if we deviate from these definitions there is somehow something wrong with us and we are made to feel flawed and less valuable. It’s time that we as a society recognize that human beings are in infact incredibly complex and defined by far more than our gender. We need to recognize that forcing anyone to hide significant parts of who they are or behave in ways that aren’t natural to them is harmful to everyone and is often passed on from generation to generation with dire consequences. This is one of the biggest reasons we see so much misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia which in many cases leads to violence. It’s high time we realize that it’s okay for people to be different and these differences should be embraced not rejected. When we can learn to love everyone for who they are regardless of how they differ from ourselves then we will truly have a society worth being proud of. ❤ #transgender #genderfluid #nonbinary #gendernonconforming #girlslikeus #transisbeautiful #girlswhopowerlift #girlswholift #girlswithmuscle #genderqueer
